A little over a year ago I wrote an article in my e-newsletter about finding your theme song and how music is healing for your soul. I am revisiting this topic and article because I still get people that talk to me about that article and I think it is worth looking at again.
The question I have for you is . . . When was the last time you gave yourself permission to listen to music and ENJOY it?
What really motivated me to discuss the topic of a theme song was when I met a Florida cab driver a little over a year ago. I had the good fortune to have a taxi cab ride with this inspiring and energetic driver pictured here.
He reminded me of the power of music and had such amazing enthusiasm and uplifting energy. He did that all within a 15 minute taxi cab ride with him as my dancing, singing taxi driver. When I asked him his name he told me, “my name is Wayne but my friends call me Hollywood”. He exuded happiness. He enjoyed the music he played in his taxi cab and shook the van from his movement of dancing in his seat at red lights. He sang, smiled and he enjoyed life. You could not be in the taxi without smiling and feeling his vibe of pure joy! In fact, his energy was contagious as I started to sing too! It seems his theme song for the night was GEORGE THOROGOOD “Bad To The Bone” as he played it a few times and enjoyed it as much the second time as the he did the first time. Since then, whenever I hear that song on the radio I immediately smile and think of my Florida cab driver named “Hollywood”.
So the question is. . . what is a theme song and how do you get one?
- It’s a song that envelopes YOU in the music so that you are smiling from the inside out?
- What song do you connect with whenever you hear it?
- Is there a song you play over and over because you just LOVE it?
- Is there a song that helps change your mood when you need an attitude adjustment?
- When you are feeling less than motivated is there a song that can get you moving?
Think about it? What song do you exude joy when you hear it . . . that is YOUR theme song.
Now don’t just think about it . . . download your song from iTunes, make it your ring tone on your cell phone . . . PLAY the song that takes you away why you move to the rhythm and listen to the lyrics.
Don’t expect your theme song to stay the same though. As you grow and change your theme song will change to meet who you are at that time in your life. In fact, you might have a theme song just for a day! Just allow yourself the opportunity to connect to the healing sound of music!
Enjoy listening and grooving to the music of your theme song for who you are at this moment. Maybe tomorrow you can be the one singing and dancing in your car. Add a little relaxation in your day with the joy of music!

Journey – Don’t Stop! LOVE it!!
That is mine too! I have it as my ring tone for my cell:)
