One of my favorite foods are avocados! So often people shy away from them because they don’t know how to cut them. I wanted to share with you some how to cut an avocado and some of the health benefits of eating avocado.
How to cut an Avocado:
- Wash it first.
- Get a sharp knife.
- Cut the avocado length wise – it will open up like pictured above.
- Take a sharp knife and pretend your are going to slice the pit, the knife will stick in the pit, wiggle from side to side and easily lift the pit out; or take a spoon and go around the edge of the pit and it will easily come loose.
- Then you can slice the avocado across in strips and scoop out with a spoon
Why eat Avocados:
- It’s good fiber
- Great source of potassium
- Include’s Vitamin’s E and B
- Has folic acid
- A great source of Omega-3 fatty acids (the good fat for your body)
Avocados are a great snack – tortilla chips and avocado – I have had many times while traveling and used a plastic knife and spoon to cut it open . . . they are easier than you think to use in recipes so try them out and enjoy!
