Aha Number 7: Words Transform

This chapter is simple and to the point - speak only words that have a good purpose. This is such good advice but can often be difficult when life presents a challenging situation. I have also heard if your words aren’t kind then don’t say them.

Is it possible to be angry and still be kind?

It is because I have done it before. It is not easy to do and takes some serious breathing and self control but it is possible. The author’s state, “If it doesn’t serve don’t say it.” This might take some practice because so often we talk to fill the silent space. A suggestion is when there is a pause in a conversation take a breath and think about what you are going to say so that you are speaking words with a purpose and not speaking just to fill the void.

As a society, we are often uncomfortable with silence. I bet if we were all more comfortable with a pause and a little silence there would be less gossip and hurtful things said to others. I challenge you to take time to consider the words you use when you are speaking to someone because if they are hurtful they can destroy and if they are kind they can inspire.

Our words have power and they always come back to us so try to choose words that have a purpose or word karma just might sneak up on you when you least expect it.
